Higher Level Skills Funded Cert IV in Building & Construction
The qualification CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building & Construction is designed to meet the needs of builders and managers of small to medium-sized building businesses.
The builder may also be the appropriately licensed person with responsibility under the relevant building licensing authority in the State or Territory. Builder licensing varies across States and Territories and additional requirements to attainment of this qualification may be required.

- Construction manager.
What does it cost?
For Queenslanders, this course is currently funded by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) under the Higher Level Skills program. This program aims to retain the skills of existing workers in the building and construction industry by providing access to Certificate IV qualifications in building and construction. DESBT are providing funding to contribute towards the costs of the Certificate IV in Building, and the co-contribution fee (student fee) is only $750 for eligible building and construction workers who want to further develop their skills, instead of the usual $4300. We currently offer this on a payment plan consisting of 10 fortnightly payments of $75. Who is this course for?
This course is designed for people who have many years of experience in the construction industry, and would like to gain their Low Rise Builders Licence in Queensland. This course meets the requirement of the QBCC licence type. Although there are no official entry requirements, it is recommended to be currently working in the building industry and have access to relevant building documentation, plans and resources required by licenced builders.
DESBT Funding Eligibility
To be eligible for funding under this program, you must meet the following criteria.
- Be aged 15 years or over, and no longer at school
- Permanently reside in Queensland
- Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
- Not hold, and not be enrolled in, a certificate IV or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school or foundation skills training.
- Have completed a Certificate III (trade certificate) within the construction industry (please include a copy with your application)
The Higher Level Skills Program aims to assist individuals to gain the higher level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in a priority industry, or to transition to university. Eligible students can receive funding from the Queensland Government when completing our Builders Licence (Cert IV) course.
