New South Wales Builders Licence
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for people who have many years experience in the construction industry, and would like to gain their Builder’s Licence in New South Wales. This course meets the requirement of the Office of Fair Trading for this licence type. Although there are no official entry requirements, it is recommended to be currently working in the building industry and have access to relevant building documentation, plans and resources required by licenced builders.
What does it cost?
The tuition fees are what you can expect to pay if you are commencing study in 2017.
The cost of your course will vary based on your eligibility for Smart and Skilled Funding. The total cost of the course for the full 16 units, subsidised by Smart & Skilled is $2820.00.
We offer this on a payment plan over 12 months. It consists of an upfront payment of $120.00 and fortnightly payments of $100.00.
Smart and Skilled Eligibility

If you wish to also apply for RPL with your enrolment the cost is $4500.
Queensland Builders Licence
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for people who have many years of experience in the construction industry, and would like to gain their Low Rise Builder’s Licence in Queensland. This course meets the requirement of the QBCC licence type. Although there are no official entry requirements, it is recommended to be currently working in the building industry and have access to relevant building documentation, plans and resources required by licenced builders.
What does it cost?
For Queenslanders, this course is currently funded by the Department of Education and Training under the Higher Level Skills program. This program aims to retain the skills of existing workers in the building and construction industry by providing access to Certificate IV qualifications in building and construction. DET are providing funding to contribute towards the costs of the Certificate IV in Building, and the co-contribution fee (student fee) is only $750 for eligible building and construction workers who want to further develop their skills, instead of the usual $4300. There is eligibility criteria and specific requirements for this funding so please refer to our eligibility criteria for more information.
We offer this on a payment plan consisting of 10 fortnightly payments of $75.
DET Funding Eligibility
To be eligible for funding under this program, you must meet the following criteria.

Access, interpret and apply relevant building codes and standards applicable to the construction processes of residential and low-rise commercial buildings (low rise’ licensing classification with reference to Class 1 and 10 construction and Classes 2 to 9 with a gross floor area not exceeding 2000 square metres, not including Type A or Type B construction)
CPCCBC4002A Manage occupational health and safety in the building and construction workplace
Conduct an OHS risk analysis, including the inspection of workplaces for hazards, develop and implement appropriate responses, including responses required by state or territory legislation and regulations, to mitigate the risks are also addressed

Select and prepare appropriate construction contracts, including the sections, clauses and conditions for low rise construction projects.
CPCCBC4004A Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects

BSBSMB406A Manage small business finance
Implement, monitor and review strategies for the ongoing management of a small business’s finances. It also includes day to day financial management of the small business.
How does it work?
Construction Training Institute offer flexible training and assessment options to allow you to complete your training program around work and other commitments.
This pathway requires completion of all units and the associated assessment activities. There are 16 units in total, split into 4 stages of 4 units. The units come express posted to your home or office, one stage at a time. You are required to work through the learning material and assessments as guided. For any assistance or support, contact your trainer to help explain the course units. Once you have completed the first stage, then post it back to us and we post out the second stage to you. Simple!
When you have finished all the units and your trainer has marked them all competent, we will award your certificate. Then, you present this certificate to the QBCC or the Office of Fair Trading with your builder’s licence application.
How long does it take?
As most students have been in the industry for many years, they can usually get through the assessments in a short amount of time, although we do allow up to a year for students to complete. As the course is self-paced, you can progress through each stage as fast or as steady as you like.
